The fact of holding such a conference shows a transition from programming as a craft to programming as an industry. Nowadays it is a real industry performing an industrial function. But there is a problem here – the lack of competent specialists who can take part in these processes. Russians with their fundamental mathematical education and large experience can become a unique resource for the whole world. Russia can and must take its place in this business. But it’s difficult to perform that without sharing world-famous specialists’ experience. So this conference plays a very important role – it brings Russian industry nearer to the world community.
